You must be asking yourself, “Why should I migrate to MTN Pulse plan, what is so unique with this particular plan that made people to hype it so much?” With this question in mind, I still needed to tackle the issue of what tariff plan to choose after activating a new MTN SIM.
To my greatest surprise, I made a discovery. Just be happy right now cause your search is over!
So, if you want a mobile plan that allows you to make cheap phone calls, enjoy special data packages as well as be offered some extra fun, then MTN Pulse should be the right plan for you.
In this post, we’ll go over everything you need to know about the Pulse tariff plan. In particular, we will explain the process of migrating to the Pulse tariff and help you get the most out of Pulse Points and other special bundles.
Understanding MTN Pulse and Call Rate Charges
MTN Pulse is, in fact, a prepaid tariff that broadens the opportunities for MTN customers as it allows for more call time, a range of data bundles and other stimulating benefits as well. This is so because the Pulse plan aims at offering value for the users allowing them to talk and browse at much cheaper rates.
If you are a prepaid customer, this plan is ideal for you as it increases the value of customers by offering a few essential packages such as exclusive offers, special data bundles, Pulse Points, and many others.
The pulse tariff plan is available to all MTN prepaid customers. It does not matter if you are an MTN customer or an intending one, migration to this tariff plan and enjoying all its benefits is very simple.
By subscribing to the tariff plan, an MTN prepaid customer will pay 13 kobo for every second of a call to any local network in Nigeria. However, the first 90-second call made on the day will first be charged at 30 kobo per second and after that, the 13 kobo rate can be applied.
This however implies that it would take a total of ₦27 worth of calls accumulated over the period of first day call for the first condition to change. Thereafter for the rest of the day’s calls, the prevailing rate of 13 kobo would apply till midnight. This call rate will be rescinded the following day.
If you decide to make a switch to any of the prepaid plans after completing your first 90 seconds calls, your newly selected tarif plan’s call rate will be the one applied to the rest of the calls you will make.
Also note that calls on this tariff are recognized to be at discount to only MTN to MTN, or MTN to other local network operators; all other calls, particularly international calls will be charged at the normal international call rates.

There are several reasons why you should consider switching to the pulse tariff plan. Here are my top 6 picks reasons:
- MTN Pulse first 90 seconds calls of the day is at 30 kobo per second, all the subsequent calls to any other local network will then attract a flat rate of 13 kobo per second charge. This can only mean one thing, “the more you talk, the more you save!”
- Customers get access to unique special data bundles, including:
- 750MB plus 1 hour of free Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok data for just ₦300, valid for 3 days.
