MTN 5G Coverage Now Surpassed 7 States and going forward

The launch of MTN 5G in seven major cities marks a notable enhancement in technology and telecommunications in the country, as the fifth-generation cellular network has officially arrived. 

MTN’s strategic expansion plan includes the continuous incorporation of new sites to improve coverage, which primarily focuses on the cities of Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Kano, Owerri, and Maiduguri. This will allow the use of MTN 5G for users in those cities as well. 

With 5G-enabled communication, users can expect further performance with the MTN 5G network, which includes better data transfer speed, application performance, and a larger variety of services that utilize the advantages of 5G technology. When attending the launch, the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria, Karl Toriola, had this to share: 

“Every major development in technology transforms our lifestyles and interpersonal communication. The creation of GSM made it possible for calls to be made while on the move, followed by 2G, which allowed for texting; 3G, which enabled Internet browsing on phones; and 4G, which makes video widely accessible. Each evolution has been transformative.”

MTN is going to connect the dots with the 5G communication infrastructure in innovative ways never imagined before in regard to creation, collaboration, and even competition.

Professor Danbatta Umar, the NCC’s executive vice chairman, said,” It is an epoch-making event and a cause for celebration. Today marks the successful conclusion of the auction of the 5G spectrum and the commencement of commercial 5G services in our country.”

This is not just a milestone for us, but also a leap in technology and further cements our country within the top players in the world when it comes to 5G infrastructure. 

Starting from now, retrievals and uploads will take almost no time at all. It creates so much more than simply allowing for rapid downloads; the digital space is being altered as we speak with new interaction and engagement techniques. 

The 5G infrastructure is expected to transform the individual experience on a grander scale, like industry, agriculture, and connectivity. An official from MTN emphasized how the structure of 5G will allow for more advanced technologies like gaming, smart home gadgets, and even telesurgery.

Evaluation of MTN 5G and 4G Usage Rates

The switching from MTN 4G to MTN 5G has shown to increase mobile data usage for customers; however, it is required for an optimal experience as advertised, thus making the difference between utilization of the services seem negligible. 

A speed test conducted on the MTN 5G cellular network shows that with the rapid data transfer of information, the faster transmission of data in milliseconds leads to increased costs of data charges. 

This indicates the increased efficiency that 5G networks have towards handling large bandwidths of data and transmitting it to users compared to other devices, thus enhancing the experience from the device while consuming a lot more mobile data than before. 

User experience, on the other hand, with MTN 5G is not the same. There have been reports from certain users of the 5G router testers that everyone has different experiences with the new technology. 

Devices with specifications like a 5G modem integrated into a mobile phone showed promise, with some users reporting unbelievable speeds of 1,400 MBps and others being limited to 40 MBps, showcasing their older model phones, which hints towards the fact that the 5G experience is device dependent.

As 5G matures, device suitability will be a crucial consideration in facilitating customer experience as well as 5G network utilization.

5G coverage forecast

NCC has provided that 5G coverage will hit 70% of Nigerians by 2025, and that is where MTN will be able to use the new technology to service the unserviced market. Other telcos will also benefit from the widening gap with time!

5G is a new technology that is still in its untuned state. MTN customers will need to exercise some level of patience in order to have this newly launched technology available in their region.

MTN 5G Coverage Reached 13 States in Nigeria

MTN 5G coverage reached 13 states in Nigeria. This milestone was achieved in May as the vision and strategy for MTN Nigeria’s 5G network expansion started in September last year.

With the deployment of 700 5G sites in places like Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and others, the technological advancement of Nigeria is further complemented. 

This allows them to keep pace with the ambitious targets MTN Nigeria has set for themselves, specifically regarding the 5G coverage. The telecommunications company plans on having 10% of the population covered by the end of the year and aims to have 40% coverage by 2025. 

These targets highlight the company’s long-term ambitions of achieving advanced connectivity across Nigeria and suggest that there are rapid expansions taking place in the country. 

In an effort to make the network more accessible, MTN Nigeria is advocating for people to use their coverage locator, which notifies users if there is MTN 5G in their area. Their persistent search for growth in the field of telecommunications aids their goal of increasing the population that benefits from advanced technologies.
