Mike Adenuga began his career as a crude oil investor. He recognized the potential of Nigeria’s burgeoning oil industry and began asking for a license in the late 1980s.

He didn’t receive one, though, until General Ibrahim Babangida’s regime’s Oil Minister, Professor Jubril Aminu, instituted a new policy permitting private individuals to engage in oil exploitation and exploration.

In 1990, he got the drilling permit and launched exploring in Ondo state with his new business, Consolidated Oil (CONOIL).

Same also, Mr. Adenuga saw a new opportunity in the telecommunications sector in the middle of the 1990s. In 1999, he worked hard to win the Federal Government’s conditional GSM license and later founded Globacom in August 29, 2003 after receiving permission to do so.
