JAMB to Address Challenges Faced by Applicants in UTME Registration Process
Many parents and candidates have expressed their dissatisfaction with the difficulties faced in generating electronic pins for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration after commencing form sales on January 15. These issues have raised concerns about the overall UTME registration process.
To curb malpractice, JAMB has indicated that the National Identification Number (NIN) will be used as a compulsory measure for registration; however, this led to increased complaints regarding the UTME registration process, which prompted JAMB to consult the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
According to Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s public affairs and protocol manager, the amount of complaints lodged regarding UTME registration was unexpected, and initiatives are being put in place to ensure no such problems occur moving forward.
Candidates were advised to refrain from registration should their NIN details reflect any incorrect information until the data was resolved by NIMC.
Moreover, JAMB pointed out that names are nonmodifiable when it comes to their portal, saying once more that information pulled from the NIMC platform is untouched.
Candidates were urged to amend all changes on the NIMC platform before commencing with UTME or direct entry registration.
To simplify the registration process, JAMB assured everyone that NIMC meeting is underway to discuss ways to improve their experience.
Important Tips for Successful UTME Registration
There Are Several Reasons Candidates May Scream About Being Unable to Receive Their JAMB Profile Code After Numerous NIN Submissions.
Some people looking for JAMB profile codes have not received them after following the steps without any success.
It is possible that they failed to receive their codes because of misspelled intuitive numbers, or their NIN numbers do not exist in NIMC’s database. Such candidates need to go to the NIMC office and validate their NIN again.
Furthermore, it is now essential to link your phone number to your NIN, as service providers are complying with the Nigerian Communications Commission’s regulations of enforcing NIN-linked numbers.
If you do not verify and link your NIN with the specified phone number, you may not receive the JAMB profile code.
JAMB has reiterated these statements concerning an NIMC meeting with candidates along with the challenges that may be resolved during the impending meeting in order to broaden the interactivity between the examination body and the commission responsible for administering identity to applicants.
It makes clear that they are willing to address these issues, as it shows JAMB’s commitment to uniqueness and accuracy.
