All the states in the country have already received equipment installation and have started using the new online enrollment equipment systems.

They have had encouraging results in terms of application duration as well as the number of applicants processed each day.

Unfortunately, in spite of these promising trends, NIN enrollment has actually been trending downwards in November. The Federal Government aim was set at 2.5 million NIN applicants daily and through this, they have reported an aggregate of only ten million Nigerians enrolled within the year.

The difference created by this figure calls for action to be made so that the gap can be bridged for the demand set by the government to be met easily.

The Partnership with KOICA of Korea

NIMC has got into an agreement with Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to solve the mentioned problem. This translates to NIMC receiving 222 fresh enrolment devices, as well as a year-long assistance service during the course of the partnership.

The introduction of these highly technological devices is expected to enhance enrolment processes in terms of efficiency.

Son Sungil, the Country Director of KOICA, emphasized on the agency, increasing its partnership strength with NIMC on the e-government project.

Besides the developmental elevation in capacity, NIMC is also engaging in efforts to dismiss activities that are unethical during the enrolment process.

For this purpose, Engr. Coker-Odusote has stationed monitoring and evaluation units across different centers in the country to uphold the ethical processes of NIMC. There are also supposed to be reporting channels for complaints on abuse, such as over-charging for services.

Engineer Coker-Odusote’s zero-tolerance policy on extortion activities and unethical conducts highlights her resolve to uphold the integrity and transparency principles within NIMC’s operations.

She has instructed that any staff indulging in wrongful acts will be tackled in accordance with the provisions of the constitution and extant Public Service Rules.
